    Smart Shopping Carts to Increase Healthier Food Purchase: A Conjoint Experiment

    Shopping carts, in general, should be suitable for carrying smart technology in the retail store environment. Also, a smart shopping cart can present verbal motivating stimuli to increase healthier food purchases. A conjoint experiment was used to test with a hypothetical purchasing task for young consumers (n=91) the potential of motivating stimulus on smart shopping carts to influence healthier purchases when buying frozen pizza. The results show a positive impact for all stimuli stemming from the smart shopping cart, three of which were health-based. This shows that stimuli revealing dynamic and personalized data through smart technology in a physical grocery retail setting have the potential to outperform traditional brand statements. Our conjoint experiment increased young consumers’ likelihood of choosing a healthier frozen pizza. This result demonstrates that verbal stimuli on smart shopping carts can function as motivating augmentals on young adult consumers’ healthier food purchases and are in line with the market positioning and customerservice focus of many retailers and brands today, emphasizing a social marketing standing

    There Are Two Different Species B Adenovirus Receptors: sBAR, Common to Species B1 and B2 Adenoviruses, and sB2AR, Exclusively Used by Species B2 Adenoviruses

    Unlike most adenovirus (Ad) serotypes, the species B Ads do not use the coxsackie-adenovirus receptor as an attachment receptor. The species B attachment receptor(s) has not yet been identified and is also poorly characterized. Species B Ads can be further divided into species B1 and B2 Ads, and these display different organ tropisms, suggesting a difference in receptor usage. We have studied the receptor interactions of the species B1 serotypes 3p and 7p and the species B2 serotypes 11p and 35 and characterized the properties of the species B receptor(s). Reciprocal blocking experiments using unlabeled Ad11p or Ad3p virions to block the binding to A549 cells of (35)S-labeled 3p, 7p, 11p, and 35 showed that only Ad11p virions efficiently blocked the binding of all the species B Ads studied (≥70%). Thus, there is apparently a common species B Ad receptor (sBAR). However, Ad3p virions only partially (≤30%) blocked the binding of Ad11p and Ad35 to A549 cells. Binding experiments after trypsin treatment of the cells confirmed that the species B2 serotypes address at least two different receptors on A549 and J82 cells, since sBAR is trypsin sensitive but the species B2 Ad receptor (sB2AR) is not. Both receptors are proteins or glycoproteins, since binding of all species B serotypes was abolished after proteinase K or subtilisin treatment of A549 or J82 cells. Furthermore, binding of the species B serotypes to sBAR was abolished with EDTA and restored with Ca(2+), whereas the binding of Ad11p and Ad35 to SB2AR was independent of divalent cations

    Modulation of lytic molecules restrain serial killing in γδ T lymphocytes

    Abstract γδ T cells play a pivotal role in protection against various types of infections and tumours, from early childhood on and throughout life. They consist of several subsets characterised by adaptive and innate-like functions, with Vγ9Vδ2 being the largest subset in human peripheral blood. Although these cells show signs of cytotoxicity, their modus operandi remains poorly understood. Here we explore, using live single-cell imaging, the cytotoxic functions of γδ T cells upon interactions with tumour target cells with high temporal and spatial resolution. While γδ T cell killing is dominated by degranulation, the availability of lytic molecules appears tightly regulated in time and space. In particular, the limited co-occurrence of granzyme B and perforin restrains serial killing of tumour cells by γδ T cells. Thus, our data provide new insights into the cytotoxic arsenal and functions of γδ T cells, which may guide the development of more efficient γδ T cell based adoptive immunotherapies

    We present the simulation system for plan-driven troops developed at the Computing Science Department, Uppsala University, 1994. This work was performed by the members of Projekt94 in cooperation with CelsiusTech IT AB. Traditionally, military leadership training have consisted of operations involving much personnel. This is expensive and therefore simulation is needed. We would like the units in military leadership training to be computer controlled. To provide such units we use agent-based simulation. An agent is an entity, in this case representing a unit, that can make decisions and act accordingly. Anything from simple finite automata to sophisticated AI methods can be used for decision making. The agents may interact with other agents, the user and/or the environment. Complex behaviour can emerge due to the interaction even with very simple agents, consider for example Conways Game of Life.
